Zimbabwe Jobs: World Wide Fund For Nature, Africa Food Initiative Facilitator`
Organization: World Wide Fund For Nature (WWF)
Job Title: Africa Food Initiative Facilitator,
Location: Harare-Zimbabwe
Closing date: Friday, 28 October 2016
Position title: Africa Food Initiative Facilitator
Reports to: Country Director (Africa Food Initiative Champion)
- Background
The WWF Regional Office for Africa (ROA) adopted an approach of working on transformational Initiatives aligned to some of the Network’s global practices (wildlife;
forests; freshwater; energy and climate change; oceans and food); and drivers
(governance, finance and markets). One of the Initiatives is on Food and Agricultural
Systems. Africa’s agricultural productivity is still very low despite increasing demands on
the sector to feed a growing population and to drive its socio-economic development
agenda. This has raised questions on whether a sustainable “green revolution” is possible
on a continent richly blessed with natural resources and likely to suffer the most from
climate change impacts. It is against this background that ROA identified Food and
Agriculture as a key transformational sector. In this regard and in partnership with others,
we seek to contribute to strategies, approaches and tools that ensure a sustainable and
positive ecological future for Africa.
Since WWF Africa is relatively nascent in the food space, it seeks the dedicated resources
of a Food Initiative Facilitator to bring several sub-projects within this Transformational
Initiative to life.
