Description
Established in 1991, the Africa Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF) builds human and institutional capacity for good governance and economic management in Africa. ACBF supports capacity development across Africa through five service lines: investment in capacity development initiatives, capacity development advisory services, knowledge and learning, promoting innovation in capacity development and mobilizing resources to support capacity development.
ACBF requires a Business Development Officer to lead and oversee the development and growth of fee-based services in Kenya and the East Africa region inclduing developing and maintaining effective key client and partnership relationships.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Proactively lead the identification and prospection of new business opportunities;
- Provide high quality research on prospective clients to ensure development of relevant business proposals;
- Work with teams to develop business proposals that respond to client needs;
- Support negotiation with clients as required;
- Contribute to the ongoing improvement of service delivery standards;
- Ensure efficient and effective marketing, advertising and promotional planning;
- Build and maintain a sound knowledge of ACBF activities & services;
- Represent ACBF at relevant meetings and events;
- Follow up on resource mobilization efforts to increase funding;
- Other responsibilities as they arise.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Selection will be competitive, on the basis of the following minimum qualifications, experience and competencies:
Education: Master’s degree in marketing, management, economics, development or business related disciplines.
Experience: At least 6 (six) years working experience in marketing, project/programs management – design, implementation and evaluation;Proven track record in marketing, project/program management and/or training capacity; Proven track record of proposal development; Experience in capacity building would be an added advantage;A successful portfolio of income-generating projects within the business-development field, and Demonstrated ability to work well in an multi-cultural environment.
Language proficiency:
Excellent knowledge of English Language. Working knowledge of French would be an added advantage.
