Job Description – WASH Field Officer
- Assist with monitoring & evaluating all health and sanitation project outcomes, in accordance with the programme indicators established.
- Take the lead in educating rural communities on good health & hygiene practices, through Improved knowledge and by changing of attitudes and behaviour of key people within those communities. Typically this will include community based preventative health education and sanitation education such as Participatory Health and Hygiene Education (PHHE) and Community Lead Total Sanitation (CLTS) and ongoing promotion of health and hygiene messaging, training of Village Health Volunteers and supporting communities to make improvements in sanitation practices, including the elimination of open defecation in targeted rural
areas.
Job Requirements
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health or Health Promotion.
- Demonstrated experience in mainstreaming WASH into other sector programmes within humanitarian settings.
- Experience in coordination and supervision of sanitation and household refuse/waste management using community based approaches.
- Experience in designing and implementing WASH facilities like latrine and water supplies and hygiene promotion for affected people.
- At least 3 years experience working in an NGO environment.
