The role of the United Nations in Zimbabwe has become increasingly important, as both the Government of Zimbabwe and its Development Partners consider the United Nations Country Team to be a key strategic partner and as playing a vital role in coordinating and channeling support to the country. The United Nations Resident Coordinator’s Office (UNRCO) is supporting the UNCT in these processes. Therefore, in order for the UNCT to successfully fulfill its mandate, a strong, flexible and versatile support office with strategic policy, advisory, planning and advocacy skills are required. Accordingly, the UNRCO is working under the leadership of the UN Resident Coordinator (UNRC) and providing a platform between the various functions of the UNRC. Under the guidance of UNRC and direct supervision of the Head of the UNRCO, the Coordination Associate provides assistance to the execution of services of the UNRCO by managing data and providing support to United Nations Country Team activities. He/she promotes a client-oriented approach and provides support services on UN system operations, with a particular focus on operational issues.
Required Skills and Experience
Education
6 years of progressively responsible administrative or programme experience is required at the national or international level.
Experience
Solid experience in the use of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc) and advanced knowledge of spreadsheet and database packages.
Experience in handling of web-based management systems is an advantage.
Knowledge of UN operations will be an added advantage.
Language
Fluency in English. Good knowledge of another UN language will be considered an asset.
