A challenging and exciting opportunity has arisen within the Health and Nutrition Unit. Under the direct supervision of the Essential Drugs Manager, the incumbent will ensure effective and efficient programmatic support by the UNICEF Harare office to procure all health related commodities and equipment.

Key result areas for this post include
–    Provide technical support in preparation of appropriate documents, and input on specifications and supply and logistics arrangements, facilitating cost-effective efficient procurement, clearance, storage and distribution of supplies and equipment to project sites, in support of the country programme implementation
–    Maintain effective working relations and contact with the Supply Division in Copenhagen, on forecasting supply procurements, trans-national shipments, deliveries, and appropriateness of supplies
–    Participate in the preparation/compilation of the supply status reports required for donor reports, budget reviews, programme analysis and annual reports
–    Liaise with MoHCW, NatPharm and other UNICEF Health & Nutrition implementing partners to regularly develop and communicate accurate inventory tracking, inventory aging and incoming supplies information
–    Plan capacity building initiatives and conduct training for UNICEF’s counterparts in supply management, distribution and inventory of supplies and equipment in order to improve programme implementation
–    Undertake field visits to project sites and monitor inventory and supply inputs
–    Identify and advise on corrective actions to improve logistical procedures and enhance programme implementation

Minimum Qualifications and Experience Required
–    Advanced University Degree in public health, , supply chain management, pharmacy, or related field
–    At least 2 years of professional work experience in the UN or other international development organization/ private sector, national government or field work experience
–    Work experience in SWAP framework and arrangements for pharmaceutical procurement services and supply chain management
–    Demonstrated analytical ability, and the capacity to develop strategies while working under pressure
–    Good project management and coordination skills.
