Team Leader – Zimbabwe

ASI seeks a Team Lead for the anticipated multi-year agriculture markets programme in Southern Africa. The overall goal of this programme is ASI to address agriculture constraints, bring vulnerable populations into existing markets and improve access to adequate nutrition. This position is contingent upon ASI being awarded a contract.
The Team Leader will manage the entire programme and be responsible for overall effective implementation of the programme. She/he will operationalize the strategic direction for the programme to achieve programme objectives. The Team Leader will be responsible for timely implementation and reporting of activities; accurate programme monitoring and evaluation; proper financial management, reporting, and spending; and compliance with programme terms and conditions. The Team Lead will also be responsible for liaising with relevant local, district and national level government departments as well as any applicable international organizations.
This position is contingent upon ASI being awarded a contract.
Skills:

  • Experience in agriculture in Southern Africa.
  • Demonstrated experience in: markets for inputs, markets for services, food storage and collateral management, supply chain coordination, monitoring and evaluation.
  • Ability to engage with government officials, policy makers, and private sector actors on market based solutions for improvements in regional trade of staple foods.
  • Ability to engage with central government and policymakers on high-level issues.
  • Deep understanding of gender equity issues and promoting women’s entrepreneurship/employment.
  • Excellent skills in managing donor relationships.
  • Leadership of transformative programmes that take a systems approach to private sector development.
  • Successful delivery of Making Markets Work for the Poor (M4P) programmes.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in management, international development or a related field required.
  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience in development required.
  • Minimum 5 years of project management experience, managing complex activities involving coordination with multiple program stakeholders.
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the Southern African economy.
  • Experience liaising with and working through developing country governments at different tiers of administration. (federal/regional/local)
  • Thorough understanding of and experience leading development programmes that use the M4P approach.
  • Experience with high-value contracts.
