Based in Zimbabwe, Harare with extensive and regular travel to the project regions

We provide capacity development support to local and national organisations at the government, non-government and private sector levels. SNV provides advisory services in the sectors Agriculture, Water Sanitation & Hygiene and Renewable Energy/Climate Change.
INTERNATIONAL ASSIGNMENTS
SNV’s advisory services focus on creating effective solutions with local impact. We work in partnership with a wide range of clients to impact poverty and build capacity worldwide. From bilateral donors such as USAID, AusAID and DFID, to philanthropic foundations and leading corporates, we help our clients achieve their development objectives and make a difference where it matters most.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
We are looking for consultants to join us as part of the DFID market linkages project in Zimbabwe and for periods still to be determined. Inputs will be short (less than 2 months) or medium term (more than 2 months) with work carried out primarily in the project regions.
We require consultants with a proven track record and strong expertise, preferably gained from developing economies and Sub-Saharan Africa, in one or more of the following areas:
- Smallholder agricultural production (crops and livestock) in both irrigated and non- irrigated drylands;
- Strengthening of advisory training and information (extension) services provided to smallholder farmers;
- Smallholder farmer cooperation;
- Input supply services (seeds, fertilisers, machinery etc.);
- Smallholder finance;
- Value chains and market linkages;
- Gender and inclusion strategies;
- Development of national policy for smallholder development;
- Experience of working with DFID, M4P, agricultural commodities/value chain development and on poverty alleviation programmes would be a significant advantage.
