We are building a talent pool of candidates to be considered for future positions with UNICEF Zimbabwe within our Supply and Logistics Unit. Successful candidates will be placed in a pool that will be valid for 2 years. However two positions are currently vacant as indicated against the position.

Senior Procurement Assistant at GS7 Level

Purpose of the Job:

Under the general supervision of the Supply Officer, prepares requests for proposals and purchase orders for goods and services, obtains quotations from local vendors for purchasing office, project supplies and services. Monitors all requests for procurement/contracting for review by Supply Officer. Drafts solicitation document, tabulation and proposal for award of
contract. Maintain updated filing system and record keeping. Liaise with requesting sections for finalization of specification/scope of work. Meticulously follow up with suppliers on production/delivery and provides weekly update to supervisor.

 

Requirements

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Minimum of first degree in any commercial subject, supplemented by courses in purchasing methods, contracting, supply chain management and logistics highly desirable.
  • At least seven years of progressively responsible administrative work, with specialized experience in purchasing a variety of materials and services.
  • Possess sound analytical skill and local market knowledge.
  • Good computer skills.
