ICAP at Columbia University is recruiting a Project Director for an upcoming initiative to catalyze the adoption, implementation and scale-up of high quality differentiated care for HIV in multiple countries in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). Differentiated care involves adapting HIV programs and services to meet the needs of patients with different stages of disease, and leverages innovative approaches such as community-based treatment models, to achieve coverage, quality, and efficiency at scale.

Working closely with the Director for Health Systems Strategies at ICAP headquarters and ICAP’s country teams throughout SSA, the Project Director will be responsible for the design, implementation, and evaluation of key project activities, including: championing the adoption of high quality differentiated HIV care; fostering a multi-country network to spread knowledge and best practices; liaising with Ministries of Health to promote uptake of differentiated care policies and tools; supporting capacity building for differentiated care at the national and sub-national levels; supporting implementation of quality improvement efforts directed at differentiated care; and convening meetings, workshops, seminars, and site visits.

Note: This position is contingent upon receipt of award and funder approval of key personnel.

LOCATION: Pretoria, South Africa

Major Accountabilities:

Day-to-day responsibility for program planning, implementation, and evaluation, and ensuring that measurable outcomes are attained.
Supervises program staff to ensure effective program delivery.
Ensures clear communication with the New York ICAP office.
Prepares regular reports on program activities for donors and the New York ICAP office.
Represents ICAP at Columbia University in meetings with government officials, donors and partner organizations.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Travel Requirements:

Frequent international travel is expected.
Education:

Requires an advanced degree in medicine, nursing, or public health.
Experience, Skills & Minimum Required Qualifications:

Experience designing, implementing and evaluating HIV programs in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Strong management/leadership experience.
Experience working in collaboration with Ministries of Health and other governmental and non-governmental partners to influence policy and advance adoption of innovative program designs.
Fluency in English (both oral and written) and strong communication skills.
