Purpose of the job
Under close supervision and technical guidance from the Child Protection Specialist, collects information, maintains records and prepares documentation and correspondence pertaining to programme activities. This assistant will work on a dynamic portfolio of violence prevention and response initiatives, contributing to programmes that will support the government and its partners to keep children safe from violence and abuse.

Major tasks to be accomplished
–    Process disbursement and liquidations to partners and payments to contractors including drafting payment disbursement letters and follow up on acknowledgement of receipts from partners
–    Raise Funds Reservations and Funds Commitments and other functions related to UNICEF’s financial management system (VISION)
–    Maintain efficient filing systems for financial and other records electronically and in hard copies
–    Undertake financial and assurance visits to key partners; and provide technical support to relevant capacity building priorities
–    Support the finalization of, particularly budget related, components of new partnership agreements with government and civil society organisations
–    Providing UNICEF Child Protection Section with regular financial expenditure reports and ongoing strategic direction on expenditure trends and thereby ensuring compliance with donor requirements on expenditure of the relevant PBAs
–    Support Child Protection Team with other administrative, logistical and financial tasks as allocated by the post Supervisor

Qualifications and competencies
–    Completion of secondary education and ability to operate financial programmes and software
–    Additional commercial training in accounting or finance is desirable
–    At least 7 years of administrative experience, including record-keeping and processing of information
–    Demonstrable proficiency in computer application packages
–    Good communication and organizational skills
–    Ability to work in a multicultural environment.
