Description

Main Tasks:

  • Planning and co-ordination of implementation of all programme activities in collaboration with ZFC/CFU staff.
  • Ensure monitoring of programme activities for reporting and evaluation
  • Regular reporting to the ZFAT Technical Management Committee (TMC), Board of Trustees and Funding partners.
  • Networking with relevant Government authorities and departments.
  • Linkage with private sector actors and research institutions in the agricultural sector, including participation in relevant stakeholder fora
  • Final responsibility for the management of resources and the preparation of required progress reports.
  • Overseeing of ZFAT office operations

Requirements

Professional Requirements

  • Msc degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Economics, or related field, and at least 10 years of working experience in the agricultural sector.
  • At least 5 years working experence in a senior management position
  • Proven track record in implementing development projects, with ability to plan, co-ordinate, and monitor project activities.
  • Proven knowledge of farmers’ unions and commodity associations
  • Ability to handle work pressure and show initiative and tact to solve problems.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and attitude, and good communication skills.
  • Computer literate and good writing skills.
  • Clean drivers license.

Other preferred Qualities:

  • Multi-lingual (English, Shona, SiNdebele).
  • Readiness for frequent travel away from Harare.
  • Ability to energize farmers and programme staff
  • Affinity with farmers and their specific problems, including environmental
    issues.
  • Knowledge of agricultural value chains and marketing.
  • Integer, disciplined and hard working.
