Metallon Corporation Limited (“Metallon”) is a leading gold producer, developer and explorer in southern Africa. Metallon is focused on low cost, high grade mining operations and increasing gold production to 500,000oz pa by 2019.

Metallon has four gold mining operations, is dewatering Redwing Mine and exploring additional licences in Zimbabwe. Gold production was 99,000 ounces in 2014 and is targeted to reach 150,000 ounces in 2015. Metallon has a significant resource base with a JORC-compliant 8 million ounce resource, and is targeting an additional 4 – 6 million ounces through exploration (SRK 2012). With such substantial resources, Metallon Gold is focused on increasing gold production significantly by improving current mining operations, bringing Redwing Mine into production in the second half of 2015 and further on-mine expansion. Metallon Gold is already one of the lowest cost producers in Africa and across all operations, Metallon is focused on further reduction of costs

Group Training Manager

Metallon Gold is currently looking for an accomplished Group Training Manager. The successful candidate will have excellent relationship management skills with the ability and confidence to engage with, and influence a range of stakeholders at various levels of the business.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identify skills gaps and training needs across the business.
  • Manage and implement an appropriate training and development strategy that meets the needs of the business and adds to the bottom line value.
  • Support the identification and development of company talent at all levels.
  • Ensuring that training manuals and operational standards are in place and updated.
  • Develop, implement and monitor training programmes within the Group and participate in the delivery of mining training and development programmes.
  • Develop, implement and monitor employee “on-boarding” programmes to ensure employees are aware of the organisation’s history, culture and management practices.
  • Evaluate training and development programmes and assess their overall effectiveness for the organisation, and develop appropriate resources for improvements as required.
  • Prepare and implement the training and development budget.
  • Provide oversight and regular reports of Training and Development activity to the Group Head of HR and Senior Managers.
  • Develop and manage relationships with external Learning and Development Specialists and training providers.
  • Coordinate coaching and leadership training for company executives.

Requirements

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree in Mining Engineering.
  • Around 8+ years post graduate experience in a mining environment.
  • Relevant Training Qualification.
  • Experience in Mining training and theory as well as safety and mining legislation.
  • Understanding of different training styles and mediums.
  • Knowledge of Safety, Health, Environment and Quality Management Systems.
  • Ability to implement and deliver technical mining skills as well as soft skills training.
  • Computer Literate.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, including report writing, training module writing and delivering presentations.
  • ZIE professional membership.

  • Excellent organisation skills with attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working in a stand-alone role as well as working within a team.
