We are looking for an experienced and dedicated Grants Coordinator for our country operation in the Central African Republic. The purpose of the Grants Coordinator position is to provide essential grant management support to the Head of Programmes in delivering quality programs in line with the NRC country strategy in CAR.
The activities of NRC in CAR include five of NRC’s core competencies: ICLA, Education, Food Security, WASH and Shelter, across four prefectures. NRC also maintains a rapid, integrated emergency response capacity. In 2016, NRC aims to assist 110,000 persons affected by displacement in CAR.
The Grants Coordinator reports to the Head of Programme
Job description
- Adherence to NRC policies, guidance and procedures
- Maintain overview of all grants, donor requirements, rules and regulations, and internal and external deadlines, including filing of grant documents (including through the grants database – forthcoming)
- Coordinate the development of donor applications and reports, as well as ensuring donor compliance and quality control
- Contribute to the development, revision and quality control of funding proposals, budgets and donor reports
- Be updated on donor priorities and track and share relevant calls for proposals
- Analyze, document and share learning from proposal and reporting process, and compliance with donor rules and regulations
- Contribute to continuously improving internal grant management systems
- Provide an internal help-desk on donor related issues, including organize and deliver trainings in donor rules and regulations, as well as proposal and report writing
- Coordinate the development and distribution of internal reports
- Support external donor audits
- Represent with relevant partners and donors as delegated
- Promote the rights of IDPs/returnees in line with the advocacy strategy
- Undertake field visits to project areas and organize trainings in report and proposal writing for field staff
- Facilitate and contribute to developing and maintaining partner relations within CAR
- Ensure institutional knowledge and memory is attained with regards to program development and in-country partner relations
- Coordinate the timely submission of narrative and financial reports and ensure all proposal and reporting documents are accessible and well – organized
- Actively participate in the country strategy process
- In coordination with the Area Managers and the Programme Director ensure the active monitoring of program progress through active participation in grant opening meetings, monthly grant review meetings and grants closing meetings
- Develop and oversee the grant’s team and ensure active capacity building of staff within the unit

Qualifications
- 3 years of relevant experience within field of expertise
- Relevant experience from the project management in the humanitarian sector
- Relevant experience from working with humanitarian- and development donors
- Good understanding of donor rules and regulations
- Skills and experience in report and proposal writing
- Strong communication, coordination and interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical skills (data and financial)
- Ability to mediate in high-stress scenarios with competing interests
