World Vision began its operations in Zimbabwe in 1973. It started working from bordering countries to provide life-saving support to refugees and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) during the Liberation Struggle.

WVZ operations are spread across 9 out of the 10 provinces of the country, with a majority of its 1.75 million clients in rural areas.

Current programmes focuses on improving the well-being of boys and girls in the areas of Education, Health, Water and Sanitation, Child Protection, Food Security and Economic Development.

Currently there are 29 Area Development Programs (ADPs) and WVZ works in consortia to implement large projects supported by different multilateral funding agencies. Among them are, ENSURE (Enhancing Nutrition Stepping Up Resilience & Enterprise), IGATE (Improving Girls Access Through Education) and ENTERPRIZE (Ensuring Nutrition Transforming & Empowering Rural Farmers and Promoting Resilience in Zimbabwe.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Accountability, Monitoring and Evaluation Officer – Bulawayo

Purpose of the Position:

The Accountability, Monitoring and Evaluation officer is responsible for setting up and managing operations of the HEA Humanitarian Accountability and M&E system to support programme management and accountability functions. He/she contributes toward the relevance, effectiveness and efficiency of World Vision programming. coordinating M & E activities in country with the aim of measuring program performance, improving quality, and reporting program activities.

Knowledge and Skills:

  1. A degree in social sciences, statistics, development studies and other relevant disciplines.
  2. Minimum 2 years direct experience in design and implementation of A,M&E systems; including qualitative and quantitative approaches to assessment and monitoring
  3. Clean valid class four drivers licence an added advantage.
  4. Experience in participatory assessment, monitoring and evaluation, training and facilitation, data processing and analysis
  5. Commitment to understanding international humanitarian standards, especially the Red Cross and Red Crescent Code of Conduct, Sphere, and the Humanitarian Accountability Partnership (HAP) Standard;?
  6. Ability to communicate and work with beneficiary communities and stakeholders with professionalism, compassion and as a representative of the organization
  7. In-depth working knowledge of computer based statistical packages including SPSS, CsPro, Epinfo and Excel; and information dissemination software
  8. Excellent report writing and information dissemination skills
  9. Good knowledge of and experience with humanitarian guidelines and principles
  10. Good contextual knowledge of local community and social/cultural constraints, realities and organisational relationships for effective project design and implementation
  11. Communicates with integrity to different stakeholders- good interpersonal skills with people across a wide social range including project beneficiaries/community members, other WV staff/managers, government officials etc
  12. Ability to organise and facilitate capacity building/ enhancement for staff
  13. Builds coalitions to support change initiatives for sustainable community development.
  14. Ability to verify data quality
  15. Ability to speak Shona, Ndebele and other local languages.
