i.Business Development Manager

Global Climate Adaptation Partnership (GCAP) is an international partnership of the world’s leading climate and adaptation experts. It provides a broad range of climate-related services to both government and commercial clients. As the world of climate change matures, businesses and governments are increasingly engaging in efforts to determine sound climate adaptation solutions.  GCAP represents a powerful new force in the field of climate adaptation, providing a wide spectrum of solutions. Its distinctive approach is one that combines in-depth knowledge with strong operational and planning insight. Using this core method, GCAP develops solutions through an expanding network of offices located in regions where adaptation services are most in demand. GCAP offers an exciting start-up environment with flexibility and greater responsibility, allowing its staff to quickly advance into more senior positions.

GCAP currently seeks a Business Development Manager to help further develop and secure additional funding for GCAP’s business services. Candidates should have at least 2 to 5 years experience working in a sales or business development type role where they actively engage with people on a regular basis. The initial focus of this role will be to secure funding for GCAP’s Adaptation Academy by directly targeting potential funders and potential participants, primarily through phone calls. GCAP has already prepared much of the background material and marketing strategy for the Adaptation Academy but needs a qualified and enthusiastic individual to assist GCAP with its implementation. This role also includes working closely with the GCAP leadership (Directors and Senior Staff) to further develop different business areas, manage client-leads and assist in the internal operations.

Successful candidates should meet the following criteria:

  •  2 to 5 years experience in a business development or sales type role.
  • English speaking and comprehension fluency, additional languages a plus.
  •    A people person with a high level of communication skills – doesn’t mind making calls and directly following up with different leads.
  • Excellent skills in time management.
  • Excellent Team player.
  • Ability to work remotely from home office, company offices and independently.
  • Successful applicants must be committed to the GCAP vision: client oriented services, team building and multi-disciplinary assessment.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Experience selling services and fundraising.
  • Communication skills.
  •  Experience working directly with Foundations, Donors, Governments and other institutions is a plus but not required as long as applicant has other sales experience.

Position Purpose and Expectations:

  • Generate $250,000 in direct funds or leads for the Adaptation Academy in 3 to 6 months.
  • Develop a client-leads list of over 100 people in 3 to 6 months.
  • Work closely with the GCAP senior management and Adaptation Academy teams to further develop marketing and business strategies.
  • Help with GCAP’s internal operations and provide support where needed
  • Helping to win new work through networking and helping with tenders.

Compensation

  •   Compensation is negotiable and dependent on experience.
  •   The position is primarily commission/reward based though some fixed financial support will be provided.

As the pace of climate change accelerates, businesses, donors and governments are increasingly engaging in efforts to determine sound climate adaptation solutions. In order to maintain its significant growth, GCAP seeks Senior Associates to help support and provide technical excellence in our growing number of climate adaptation projects.

Successful candidates should meet the following criteria:

  • 15+ years of technical experience working on climate change, adaptation or related projects (including expertise in high priority climate change sectors)
  • English speaking and comprehension fluency. Additional languages are a plus.
  • Ability to handle international and regional travel
  • Excellent skills in time management
  • Ability to work remotely from home office, company offices and independently
  • Excellent Team player

  • Working with GCAP on a project-by-project basis
  • Successfully completing assigned tasks and deliverables on time and of the highest quality

iii. Project Manager

Successful candidates should meet the following criteria:

  • 10+ years experience managing international and/or regional climate change and adaptation projects
  • English speaking and comprehension fluency. Additional languages are a plus.
  • Ability to handle international and regional travel
  • Excellent skills in time management
  • Ability to work remotely from home office, company offices and independently
