Position: Finance Controller

Location: Rusape with frequent travel to field sites

contract duration: 12 months renewable

General Description of the Role:

Reporting to the Country Director, the Financial Controller is responsible for the financial management, internal control systems, management of funds, and reporting requirements of the organisation. In particular the successful candidate will ensure timely submission of required donors reports, monthly management accounts to GOAL Dublin, statutory reports and other ad hoc reporting to relevant authorities, as well as budget preparation and monitoring of the programme. As a key member of the senior management team, the Financial Controller will contribute to the overall development and running of the country programme.

Qualification and skills:

• A degree in Accounting plus a professional accounting qualification such as CIS, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent.
• A postgraduate qualification is.desirable.
• A minimum of 8 years’ experience in a similar strategic management role.
• Knowledge of International financial reporting standards, control standards, risk management techniques and the reporting requirements of major international grantdonors.
• Experience in dealing with institutional donors such as OFDA, FAO, Unicef, ECHO, EC, and UN grants.
• Knowledge of the INGO sector and the financial management issues specific to the sector.
• Knowledge of local finance laws and regulations.
• Strong ability to work in highly pressured environment, with high levels of deliverables required on a continuous basis. ‘
• Excellent interpersonal, motivational and management skills.
• Excellent analytical and writing skills.
• Strong IT skills and systems experience; Excel advanced with Sage experience is desirable.
• Strong experience liaising with governmental/local authorities and other NGO’s.
