Africa University, a Pan-African, United Methodist-Related University in Zimbabwe, invites applications from suitably qualified and well experienced candidates to fill this position.
The Registrar will be a senior member of staff reporting directly to the Vice Chancellor. The University Registrar is the Chief Administrator of the University – responsible for providing leadership regarding the overall vision and management of the Registrar’s Office including Academic Affairs, Human Resources, Fleet and Facilities, Security and Procurement.

The person
This is a busy and demanding position requiring a proactive and positive approach towards providing high quality and effective management.

Duties and responsibilities
Providing leadership and oversight in the management of all units in the Registrar’s Office; Serving an advisory role to the VC, the VC’s Executive Cabinet and the VC’s Cabinet in respect to a whole range of University activities; Representing the University to various internal and external stakeholders including the Global United Methodist Church; Recommending and facilitating the development and implementation of university policies and procedures as may be required by the VC; Liaising with the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Deans other relevant senior staff to ensure the efficient and effective exchange of information and the execution of procedures relating to the work of the Registrar’s Office; Providing clear direction to staff, fostering a flexible team-working approach, establishing responsive, effective and efficient working practices and a proactive approach to new issues and challenges; Managing employee matters including their recruitment, welfare, staff development, compensation and promotion; Facilitating the development and publication of major University information documents including, but not limited to, University; Prospectus, Strategic plan and class schedules; Planning and managing the University’s enrolment as well as providing relevant and accurate data to support internal monitoring and external reporting requirements; Facilitating efficient student registration and use of University facilities including classrooms and staff accommodation; Keeping of accurate University records including student and staff records, and key contracts of the University; Development and administration of Registry budget; Designing, establishing, and maintaining an organisational structure and staffing to effectively accomplish the University’s goals and objectives

Education and experience
Bachelor of Social Science Degree or its equivalent and a Master’s Degree in a related area; At least 5 years’ registry or senior management experience in Higher Education or a complex public sector organization; Proven leader in a large service delivery environment; A proven record in successfully working with diverse populations.
