Director Capital Projects at Zimbabwe Power Company
This is a senior and key position that reports to the Managing Director. The main purpose of this position is primarily the provision of capital assets to implement the organization’s generation strategy. This includes all aspects of the Capital Projects from planning, design, scheduling, engineering, contracting and construction of new and improved projects.
Description
Key Performance Areas:
Formulates ZPC corporate strategy together with other Directors
Directs the reviews of the business and program plans in line with business trends
Accountable for the implementation of the Generation Strategy through the provision of capital assets as defined annually in the approved Capital Portfolio Master Plan
Provides direction and leadership to the Project Management Office and the Project Development Sections
Accountable for the deployment of relevant Tools and Equipment, Policies, Procedures and Processes to ensure successful Project Development and Project Execution
Accountable for the successful implementation of the Governance and Control Framework specifically designed for the Capital Projects Directorate
Directs formulation of budgets so that project implementation can be guided accordingly and in liaison with Finance
Organizes and provides Directorship to ensure successful organizational design for Capital Projects
Requirements
Essential Competencies:
Ability to manage and lead complex capital projects with multiple budgets and funding sources
Extensive experience across capital projects in the Power Generation Sector over the entire project lifecycle from acquisition activities to handover to Operations
Project Management skills
Strategic orientation
Incumbent must possess excellent team building abilities and IT skills
Ability to perform a range of work based effectively to produce specific outcomes
Qualifications and Experience:
A bachelor’s degree in Electrical/ Mechanical Engineering or equivalent is required
10 years hands on experience in the Power Generation Industry, 6 years of which should preferably have been in a senior management position.
Must be at least a corporate member of a professional institute such as Zimbabwe Institute of Engineering or an internationally recognized professional institute.
A Master in Business Administration, M.Sc. Engineering or other relevant Masters Degree is an added advantage.
