Team Leader –Rural Development/Food Security Programme: DAI Zimbabwe

Objective of the programme:

This large-scale programme aims to increase productivity and raise farmer income in rural areas of Zimbabwe. The programme seeks the following outcomes:

  • Facilitate links between commercial markets and farmer groups to bring about steep increases in farmer productivity and income
  • Increase farmer productivity through climate-smart agriculture and effective natural resources management practices
  • Deliver and communicate results to influence policy change

Objective of the role:

We are seeking applications from highly experienced experts for the role of Team Leader. Responsible for ensuring the effective delivery of all programme outputs, the Team Leader must demonstrate substantial experience managing complex programmes and delivering results.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage team of specialists and administrative staff in locations across the country
  • Lead efforts to develop and implement innovative activities aimed at poor farmer households and smallholder farmers
  • Contribute to behaviour change in Zimbabwe in order to scale up climate smart agriculture through personal engagement, strategy, and drive
  • Supporting and overseeing the development of safety net programmes
  • Coordinate effectively with key stakeholders and partners to strengthen programme participation
  • Ensure value for money and delivery of results
  • Develop effective monitoring and evaluation plans and disseminate results to influence policy environment
  • Oversee delivery of key reports and workplans

Requirements:

  • At least 15 years of related experience, preferably with significant Southern African experience in livelihoods and food security activities
  • Strong experience and demonstrated competence in managing teams under complex donor-funded programmes, particularly with DFID
  • At least a Master’s Degree, preferably in an agriculture-related discipline
  • Significant networking and relationship management skills at senior leadership levels
  • Track record in facilitating catalytic change that benefits poor people
  • Strong strategic mindset and planning abilities particularly with regard to the management of development projects
  • Ability to locate to Zimbabwe
