Job Summary Of the Animal Nutritionist job

An immediate vacancy exists for an Animal Nutritionist. The Animal Nutritionist will be responsible for developing nutritionally balanced formulations, research and development, and management of the company’s quality control system.

Responsibilities Animal Nutritionist :

  • Develops weekly raw material usage plans for use in the factories.
  • Optimises raw material usage and manages flow of same throughout the business unit.
  • Develops nutritionally balanced animal feed and pre-mix formulations using FORMAT software as per set margins.
  • Prepares monthly gross margin and raw material usage reports based on product formulations.
  • Manages quality assurance at raw material receiving, storage, in process at critical control points
  • and on finished products.
  • Pro-actively interacts with customers and field sales team to obtain market feedback.
  • Attends to and resolves customer and staff queries and enquiries on product use and performance.
  • Conclusively investigates and resolves all customer queries and complaints on product use and performance.
  • Manages the unit’s product research and development programmes.
  • Manages product registration & adherence to the Farm Feeds and Fertilizers Act.

 

Qualifications and experience of the Animal Nutritionist :

  • BSc in Agriculture majoring in Animal Science.
  • A Masters degree in the same field is an added advantage. 3 years experience in Animal Nutrition or similar.
  • Highly computer literate.
  • Experience in use of FORMAT feed formulation software an added advantage.
  • Ability to demonstrate strategic and analytical thinking, and, communication and interpersonal skills.
