As an engineering maintenance fitter, you would install, service and repair engineering machinery and equipment. You could work on mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems.
If you enjoy practical work, are good at solving problems and interested in engineering as a career, this could be an ideal job for you.
You’ll need to be good with your hands, able to follow technical plans and be as good at working in a team as on your own.
Job Description
- Maintains HVACS including repairing and maintaining of blowers and dampers. Repairs and maintains humidification equipment, incubator damper systems, macerators, trolleys, conveyer, gear & pulley systems, spray cabinets, (all machine door seals are in good state) and plant compressed air & chilled water systems together with plumber
- Implements preventative maintenance programs to all hatchery mechanical equipment and systems. Attends to all mechanical faults timeously so as to prevent loss of production. Machines components and modifies mechanical structures.
- Takes stock of mechanical spares and ensures fast moving spares are always available.
- Trains apprentices and attachees. Adheres to the requirements of ISO22000:2005 certification. Upholds company rules and regulations with regard to labour, productivity and discipline

Candidate Specification
- Experience: 4 years
- Education Level: Apprenticeship
- Qualifications: Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Certificates
- Software: Industry specific
- Equipment: PC
- Knowledge Of: HVACs, Chillers & Compressed air systems, welding & metal fabrication, planned and preventative maintenance program
- Skills To: Repair and maintain all equipment
- Ability To: Train and effectively communicate
