Job Summary
The Netherlands Development Organisation SNV is implementing a project that focuses on strengthening rural household food security as well as small scale farmer’s participation in dairy, horticulture and oil seeds value chains. SNV would like to recruit three Team Leaders to oversee delivery of planned activities in the Dairy, Horticulture ond Oil Seeds sub sectors. The Team Leader(s) will have the following responsibilities:

Responsibilities:
- Identify, design and develop mechanisms for the provision of Business Development Services (BDS) to farmer groups.
- link small scale farmers to other value chain actors including the private sector (wholesalers, retailers, processors and input suppliers), government agencies (extensionists, researchers and regulatory bodies), trade associations and financiers.
- Facilitate provision of contract farming advisory services to private sector companies to increase their capacity to engage smallholder farmers.
- Facilitate development of collaborative agreements between private / company extension staff and the public extension in the Ministry of Agriculture.
- Facilitate training of extension service providers in specialised skills that enable them to support a cormercially oriented production.
- Provide contracting companies and farmer associations with advice/models to access loans to fund farming inputs.
- Develop and promote market based models of input provision by agro-dealers and other specialised SMEs.
- Facilitate the establishment / strengthening of subsector national Multi-Stakeholder Platforms (MSP).
Requirements
The successful candidates are expected to have the following competencies:
Essential Attributes
- A Master’s Degree qualification in Business/Commerce/Marketing of Agricultural Economics.
- Minimum of 5 year’s experience in agribusiness development in Zimbabwe.
- Minimum three year’s experience in resource mobilisation and grant writing.
- Minimum three year’s experience in facilitating sustainable commercial linkages between the private sector and farmer groups/associations.
- Minimum three year’s experiences in working closely with Local Government Authorities and Government Ministies.
Disirable Attributes
- A Master’s Degree qualification in Business Administration / Development Studies / Agriculture / Agricultural Economics.
- Good understanding in Rights Based Programming
