Country Manager Indirect Purchasing- Sub Sahara Africa
The position is located within Sandvik Holdings Limited but belongs to the international indirect purchasing organization and reports to the Director of Indirect Purchasing, Region EMEA.
The role
This position is responsible for developing and optimizing the performance of all indirect suppliers delivering products and services to all Sandvik companies within Sub Sahara Africa and for managing a purchase team.
Key Performance Areas
Detailed and regular communication with all Sandvik businesses in Sub Sahara Africa to maintain an in depth understanding of requirements and expectations
Management and procurement of all indirect purchases, ensuring adherence to all terms and conditions, Key Performance Indicators and other supply measurements.
Supplier identification and evaluation to ensure the lowest total cost at the right quality with secure on time delivery.
Maintenance of strategic, tactical and operational procurement with a strong focus on value and achievement of internal commercial targets and benefits.
Providing strong professional leadership and guidance on all indirect purchasing issues in line with the Group Indirect Purchasing strategy.
Leading continuous process improvement initiatives and development.
Responsible for monitoring and confirmation of contract compliance – both national and international.
Project management of ad hoc developments including responsibility for achievement of objectives, timelines etc.
Supporting and/or leading global and international projects within the Sandvik Group as required and as appropriate.
Responsible for the management of staff in line with theSandvik Leadership Model and the Sandvik Code of Conduct.
Your profile
B.Com degree with a purchasing qualification or equivalent along with a minimum of at least 10 years experience of strategic sourcing of goods and services
High level evaluation and communication skills in determining business needs
Demonstratable people management skills with the abilty to create and lead a successful target driven purchasing organisation
Strong problem solving/analytical skills and the ability to implement process changes/improvements.
Previous experience of change management and a strong drive to develop and implement “new ways of working”
