Job Description
We are looking for a
talented coordinator to lead the planning and delivery of training and other capacity
development initiatives for a new programme focusing CSO engagement in public
policies and programmes on citizen rights to basic social services (health,
educational and social protection). The project will strengthen the role of
civil society as no state actors, prepare young people for the engagement role
through increasing their understanding of the new constitution and provide
space and opportunities for young people to engage and dialogue with public
authorities to promote a culture of accountability. She/he will lead training,
mentoring and other activities to support (a) civil society organizations; and
(b) prepare young people for engagement with policy makers and (c) train young
people to better understand policies. This position requires outstanding organisational
abilities and excellent communication skills
Position summary
The main duties are as follows:
- Lead training and capacity development for CSOs: design and deliver training, mentoring and other activities for civil society
organisations - Lead training and capacity development for youth advocates: in collaboration with SAfAIDS, the Programme Quality Manager and other
staff, coordinate training and support to youth advocates - Lead youth engagement with public authorities: identify opportunities at community, district and national level for
youth interaction with public authorities - Personnel management: ensure effective
management of programme staff and support capacity development initiatives
for the wider organisation - Financial management
and reporting: ensure sound budget
management and timely and accurate financial reporting

Qualifications
A relevant University degree in
Social Sciences or Development Studies
Experience and Skills
- At least 2 years’ experience in delivering and
implementing CSO capacity building programmes or accountability programmes - Experience designing, delivering, monitoring and
evaluating training and other capacity development initiatives with CSOs - Experience supporting youth sexual reproductive
health programmes - Experience supporting youth advocacy initiatives
- Experience in networking and building relationships
with government - Experience managing and reporting against programme
budgets - A sound understanding of contemporary development
issues particularly those related to youth sexual reproductive health and youth
participation - Ability to analyse problems and make sound
operational decisions - Excellent organisational skills and a
methodological approach to programme management - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
(written and verbal) - Excellent budget management skills
- Fluency in written and spoken English essential
- Excellent IT skills
