Description
The Nutrition Intervention Manager will develop and implement nutrition focussed interventions within the strategic framework of M4P focused on agricultural markets, and will be responsible for nutrition interventions of the programme and provision of management and technical expertise. The Intervention Manager will select and implement a series of nutrition interventions that align with the overall strategy of the programme and improve food security, reduce malnutrition, and strengthen resilience. He/she will contribute to effective programme implementation, with attention given to improving overall VfM (Value for Money). This position is contingent upon ASI being awarded a contract.
Duties and Responsibilities:
•Identify the underlying causes of malnutrition and food insecurity in the program target areas, and develop and implement a nutrition strategy to address these constraints and ensure improved food security and nutrition.
•Develop and implement activities that are within the M4P framework to improve nutrition by improving access to and availability of nutritious foods by strengthening the food market system and exploring the opportunities for fortification.
•Design and deliver nutrition trainings for staff and partners, focusing on the cross cutting nature of the causes and impact of malnutrition.
•Develop and oversee the delivery of nutrition capacity building activities targeted at the household level to ensure improved nutrition behaviours.
•Where applicable, the Intervention Manager will directly contribute to the development of intervention tools and the capacity building of key stakeholders in the market.
•Contribute to monitoring and evaluation framework, reports and project outputs from the perspective of nutrition. Ensure the monitoring and evaluation framework adequately measured the impact and captures learning on nutrition-sensitive agricultural activities.
Qualifications:
•Minimum bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (nutrition, food science, etc.). Master’s degree strongly preferred.
•More than 8 years of experience working in Southern Africa on nutrition issues, particularly related to agriculture, nutrition and/or food security is required.
•Experience in facilitating trainings for staff and beneficiary populations is required.
•Experience with M4P programs and value chain experience strongly preferred.
•Experience in designing and implementing nutrition-sensitive agricultural programs strongly preferred, and expertise in nutrition-enhancing crops and approaches essential.
•Understanding of Zimbabwean nutritional and agricultural context essential.
•Monitoring and evaluation experience focused on nutrition strongly preferred.
•Expertise in private sector development desirable.
•Experience with DFID, AusAID, FAO, UN programmes desirable.
