Specific tasks & duties
The successful candidate will spearhead the building social and community cohesion (BSCC) activities within the country program working under the direct supervision of the Programmes Development Officer (PDO) in the implementation of the 1 year program work with FBOs and youth in Harare and Matabeleland. The position is based in Harare with some travel to project sites in Bulawayo. The person will support the PDO in all aspects of project implementation, monitoring and documentation
Basic functions

– Take the lead in delivering activities under the building social and community cohesion component of the country program
– Overall responsibility for all funding related to community-level conflict management, community dialogues and peace-building
– To organise and help facilitate Learning Group meetings with other partners
– To develop concepts and coordinate the hosting of regional dialogue and exchange programs
– Work with country team in ensuring delivery of quality programmes
– Assist the PDO in the integration of BSCC into the livelihoods programme- related activities
– Monitor project implementation at the field level against partner work plans and M and E frameworks
– Advice on capacity building and training needs of the project participants and partnership through information collected in the field
– Coordinating closely with implementing partners, conduct regular field visits to interact and compile field information
– Play a lead role in capturing, organizing and storage of pictures and videos of the life of the building social and community cohesion project
– Prepare activity reports (including stories of change) for donors and whenever needed
– Undertake other activities whenever requested by the PDO or other senior staff
Skills
– Must possess excellent interpersonal, organization and communication skills
– Must have excellent skills in conflict management and peace building
– Must have a professional, courteous and analytical penchant
– Must be proficient in English and at least one local language (Shona /Ndebele). Proficiency in both will be an added advantage
– Gender and cultural awareness and sensitivity, and dedication to the NGO’s mission
– Flexible and adaptable
– Works well to deadlines
Qualifications
– A bachelor’s degree in a relevant area of study (peace building, community development, sociology etc.). A post graduate degree would be an added advantage
– At least 2 or more years’ experience in working for a local or International NGO in the field
