Gender and Women Empowerment Project Officer (Gender and HIV/AIDS): Zimbabwe Microfinance Wholesale Facility (ZMWF)
The Zimbabwe Microfinance Wholesale Facility (Pvt) Limited (ZMWF) is seeking to recruit an experienced and qualified candidate for the position of Gender and Women Empowerment Project Officer (Gender and HIV/AIDS) that has arisen in the organisation. The ZMWF supports financial intermediaries including microfinance institutions (MFIs) and Savings Credit Co-operatives (SACCOs) towards a sustainable sector and outreach to the economically active poor and small enterprise.
The Economic Empowerment Project Officer will co-ordinate a project under ZMWF on mainstreaming HIV/AIDS and Gender with microfinance. The intervention combines microfinance, and a gender and HIV training curriculum with the aim of alleviating, preventing new HIV/AIDS infections, reducing vulnerability to gender-based violence, at the same time mitigating the negative social and economic consequences of HIV/AIDS.
Specific Duties
– Work with the Fund Manager to co-ordinate the economic empowerment project under the ZMWF
– Carry out assessments on Gender and HIV/AIDS service organisations and initiatives
– Establish collaboration with MFI, Gender and HIV/AIDS institutions in Zimbabwe and South Africa for knowledge sharing on the project
– Develop needs based and Zimbabwe specific model(s) for replicating with institutions in microfinance, gender and HIV/AIDS
– Plan, organise and monitor the Gender and HIV/AIDS training based on a set curriculum and materials
– Co-ordinate processes for a training programme, material adaptation, piloting and up scaling processes
– Develop appropriate monitoring and evaluation systems for the mainstreaming project
– Developing TOR for consultants and institutions as service providers
– Develop monthly, quarterly, annual plans, progress reports and related activity budgets
– Carry out research relevant to the project as required
– Any other duties assigned by the Fund Manager
Minimum Qualifications
– A Masters degree or a degree in a relevant discipline e.g. Health, Development Studies, Gender and HIV/AIDS
– Minimum 5 years working experience in project management and working with Gender and HIV/AIDS service organisations
– Engagement with development partners
– Very strong and proven Gender and HIV/AIDS knowledge or experience as a consultant in the area
– Strong and traceable monitoring and evaluation skills
– Strategic and operational management experience
– Driver’s Licence
Deep knowledge of economic empowerment issues in Zimbabwe, particularly gender equity, the impact of HIV/AIDS and linkages with gender-based violence will be an advantage.
