Functional Unit: Programmes and Management Reporting to: Head of Programmes and Research and Publications Officer
Supervising: Interns, if any
Duty Station: Harare, with regular in country travel.
Key relationships
Internally: Head of Programmes, Research and Publications Officer, Director, Programme Officers, and staff Lawyers
Externally: CBOs, NGOs, communities, international stakeholders and networks
Responsibilities
– Development and placement of media articles, press statements and opinion pieces through social media channels and traditional media outlets
– Manage, design and evaluate usability and impact of the organisation’s website
– Maintain online platforms to engage with stakeholders
– Editing of reports and publications
– Management of photo library, database of media and communications contacts
– To participate in any assigned organisation’s activities including workshops, meetings and seminars
– To manage community information center
– Train community members on the use of various communication technologies in community monitoring
– Perform any other function ancillary or incidental to the above that may from time to time be allocated by the Head of Programmes or the Director.
Qualifications and Experience
– A Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism or media studies and communications from a reputable University
– At least 2 years experience in the media industry or similar position in an NGO
– Excellent communications skills including proven writing ability
– Understanding of new media technology and website management
– Video and audio production skills an added advantage
