World Vision began its operations in Zimbabwe in 1973. It started working from bordering countries to provide life-saving support to refugees and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) during the Liberation Struggle.
WVZ operations are spread across 9 out of the 10 provinces of the country, with a majority of its 1.75 million clients in rural areas.
Current programmes focuses on improving the well-being of boys and girls in the areas of Education, Health, Water and Sanitation, Child Protection, Food Security and Economic Development.
Currently there are 29 Area Development Programs (ADPs) and WVZ works in consortia to implement large projects supported by different multilateral funding agencies. Among them are, ENSURE (Enhancing Nutrition Stepping Up Resilience & Enterprise), IGATE (Improving Girls Access Through Education) and ENTERPRIZE (Ensuring Nutrition Transforming & Empowering Rural Farmers and Promoting Resilience in Zimbabwe.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Database Administrator – Bulawayo
Purpose of the Position:
Assisting in Database Administration and Management
Major Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
- Database installation, configuration
- Backing up/recovery of Database
- Database troubleshooting and problem resolution
- Consolidating all district databases
- Analysing and comparing data trends in the databases
- Performing database and application monitoring to optimise database performance
- Programming the database so as to match with the situation on the ground as and when need arises.
- Designing and reviewing new database programs, functions, procedures, data structures and packages.
- Assisting database sizing and capacity planning.
- Formulating and monitoring policies and procedures and standards relating to database management.
- Proposing solutions, in compliance with scope and requirements, of user and management approval.
- Enrolling users and maintaining system security.
- Providing IT support to district offices
- Attend daily devotions.
Knowledge and Skills:
- National Diploma in Information Technology
- 5 O’levels including Maths and English
- 2 years experience in the field
- Visual basic Programming.
- Microsoft Access
- Macromedia Dream weaver
- Knowledge of My SQL
- Good communication with end users
