Reports to the Chief Executive Officer

  • Responsible for ensuring accountability, probity and transparency in the management of public funds in the hospital by testing the robustness of and compliance with procedures.
  • Plan, direct, manage and oversee the activities and operations of Internal Audit
  • Familiarise with Government policies and procedures to ensure audit work conforms to the Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing.
  • To establish strategic plans to carry out the responsibilities of the audit unit and to ensure these are consistent with the internal audit charter and the goals of the
  • Ensure that follow-up auditt are carried out to ascertain that appropriate action is taken on reported audit findings.
  • Monitor and ensure that audit work fulfills the general purposes and responsiblities approved by management and as required by section 80 of the Public Finance Management Act (Cap 22:19).
  • Produce monthly reports on the performance of the department highlighting any matters of importance or interest arising from audit inspections.
  • Carrying out special investigations and special reviews and where necessary attending court as State witnesses.
  • Writing reports and examining replies to observations raised and, where facts permit closing the report.
  • Preparation and revision of audit programmes and questionnaires to be used during audit inspections.
  • Audit of Suspense Accounts, monthly returns that areprepared by the Finance
  • Audit inspections of all departments for compliance and accountability.
  • Compilation of audit reports for submission to the Chief Executive Officer.
  • Ensuring replies to audit reports are received timeously and that reminders are sent for late replies.
  • The maintenance of the attendance register for the department.

Qualification

Degree/HND Accountancy or Business Studies/CIS/ACCA

Requirements

  1. At least five years experience at middle to senior level.
  2. A mature someone, a self starter who can work without supervision.
  3. Knowledge of Government systems will be an advantage.
  4. Be a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors.
