Job Summary
The Netherlands Development Organisation SNV is implementing a project that focusses on strengthening rural household food security. The project seeks to improve smallholder agriculture through strengthening of business linkages between Agrodealers, farmer’s commodity associations and private sector input/output companies.ln order to facilitate delivery of this planned work, SNV is recruiting for a Food Security Team Leader to undertake the following:
Description
Responsibilities:
- Facilitate strengthening of the business linkages between Agrodealers /Farmers Commodity Associations in all the 8 rural provinces and private sector input/outputcompanies.
- Strengthen the business model and governance structures of the Agrodealers Association of Zimbabwe (ADAZ) so that the organisation is better placed to represent the commercial interests of its membership.
- Strengthen the business model and governance structures of selected high potential Farmers Commodity Associations so that these institutions develop stronger capacity to deliver market driven quality services to their membership.
- Facilitate negotiation of deals with the private sector to facilitate improved smallholder farmers access to agricultural inputs at competitive prices.
- Support ADAZ to establish a viable credit guarantee scheme suitable. for its membership.
- Facilitate capacity strengthening of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) thatprovide Agribusiness Development Services to small scale farmers.
Requirements
The successful candidates are expected to have the following competencies:
- Solid business understanding, preferably with an MBA.
- Minimum of 5 Years’ experience in Agribusiness initiatives linking agribusiness value chain actors to the private sector.
- Solid understanding of smallholder agriculture in Zimbabwe including input and output distribution channels.
- At least 5 years’ experience providing mentorship for business development preferably in the Agriculture sector.
