KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Assist the Emergencies Manager to coordinate the implementation of all Emergencies/Child Poverty programmes including labour based interventions and programming.
  • Work together with the Emergencies Manager to manage the programme cycle, including assessments, project design, proposal and report writing, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of relief or development work.
  • Assist the Emergencies Manager to develop staff and partner capacity building plans following assessment of gaps/needs including in Disaster Risk Reduction.
  • Assist to represent SC in the project intervention areas, establish and maintain relations with local officials, district officials and community leaders.
  • Ensure SC’s Child Protection Policy and the IASC Guidelines/Action Plans to prevent sexual exploitation and abuse are implemented,monitored and reported on.

OUALIFICATIONSAND EXPERIENCE

  • Possession of a degree in Agriculture or Agronomy preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in Food Security & Livelihoods programming in an NGO sector.
  • Excellent practical and theoretical understanding of the principles & current approaches to Cash – Based Programming.
  • Extensive understanding of Social Safety Nets and Livelihoods.
  • An understanding of labour based interventions (FFA/FFW/PAC).
  • Strong understanding of humanitarian accountability principles.
  • Previous leadership experience in an NGO or other humanitarian environment, including experience in implementing emergency programmes.
  • Familiarity with key international standards for humanitarian work (e.g, SPHERE, HAP principles, etc.).
  • Ability and wil lingness to change work practices and hours
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and other vernacular languages (Tonga/ Ndebele/Shona)
