Director: SAFIRE
A local environmental NGO, Southern Alliance for Indigenous Resources (SAFIRE) is inviting applications from suitably qualified individuals to fill the position of Director. This is the most senior position in the organisation reporting to the Board. The incumbent will provide strategic leadership to the organisation in order to ensure distinction, growth and positioning of the organisation at the forefront of developments in the sector through ensuring effective leadership and application of the organisation’s resources for the attainment of the organisation’s objectives.
Key performance areas
– The director is to provide strategic leadership and guidance for the attainment of the organisation’s vision and mission
– The director will Influence trends and developments in the organization’s field of expertise and ensure that the organisation is a main contributor to the trends and growth of sector
– The director is to establish and nurture strategic partnerships with governments, NGOs’, development and other partners
– Programmes are effectively and efficiently managed to ensure value for money
– Ensure that the organization is appropriately structured to deliver its mandate
– Develop and maintain a professional, credible and accountable organization
– Ensure the organisation is adequately resourced to fulfill its mandate
– The director will risks that threaten the mission of the organisation and its existence are effectively managed
– The board is effectively supported and substantively engaged to perform its strategic leadership and fiduciary responsibilities
Qualifications
MSc Degree in Natural Sciences, plus professional qualifications in project planning, administration or management. A PhD will be an added advantage.
Experience
10 years relevant experience in environment, natural resources management and livelihoods improvement, of which 5 years must have been at senior management level, preferably, in an NGO environment.
