Assistant Finance Manager
Location: Harare (on a renewable 2 year fixed term employment contract)
Job summary
Reporting to the Country Finance Manager, the Assistant Finance Manager is responsible for the provision of timely and reliable financial information and analysis that leads to effective decision-making. He/she will be responsible for country cash management, budget management, financial reporting and analysis, internal financial controls and supervision of country finance corporate systems.
Key end results and typical responsibilities
– Consolidate the country annual budget related quarterly budget reviews o Monitor country budget versus expenditure on a monthly basis
– Prepare weekly and monthly consolidated country cash forecasts
– Prepare monthly financial management reports for the country leadership team to facilitate timely decision making
– Review country grants reports for accuracy and compliance with donor requirements
– Follow up on all inter-company charges to ensure they are properly & timely authorized and passed to relevant offices
– Maintain the corporate financial system i.e. SAP and ensure related monthly exports are submitted timely
– Review and monitor bank cash balances and reconciliations
– Provide training on corporate finance systems to all finance staff
– Facilitate staff training on organisational financial management policies and procedures
– Follow up on financial audit action lists from Plan’s Global Assurance and Internal Control Units
– Visit all Program Units and sample disbursements, receipts and journals for compliance with Plan policies and procedures
– Conduct partner support visits to assess conformity with Plan systems and to follow up on partner liquidations
Entry qualifications and experience
– A degree in accounting or a professional qualification such as CIS, ACCA or equivalent
– 5 years’ experience in a similar role in an international development organisations
– Good managerial and leadership skills
– Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
– Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
– Promotes innovation and learning
– Proficient in MS Office packages and the use of relevant accounting software packages e.g. SAP or General ledger.
2 x Finance & Invoicing Clerks
Based in Mutare/Makoni (in anticipation of food aid funding – Seasonal Targeted Assistance project – supported by the World Food Program on fixed term employment contracts with a duration of 4 months).
Job purpose
Reporting to the Finance & Invoicing Coordinator, the Finance & Invoicing Clerk is responsible for submission of invoices to World Food Program (WFP) for payment; and producing daily/weekly/monthly food distribution reports. He/she assists with the disbursement of funds to beneficiaries and monitors the budget using approved systems.
Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours required in achieving role’s objectives
– A National Diploma in Accounting or equivalent accounting qualification
– 5 “O” levels including Mathematics and English Language
– 2 years experience in a similar role in a development organization
– Analytical, good communication and interpersonal skills
– Proficient in computer skills and use of relevant accounting packages
