Overview: Location: Harare,Zimbabwe, with extensive travel (up to 70% time) across Matebeleland North and South, and Mashonaland East Provinces

Length of Position: 12 months

Founded in 2002 by President William J. Clinton, the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) is a global health organization committed to strengthening integrated health systems around the world and expanding access to care and treatment for HIV/AIDS, malaria and other illnesses. In Zimbabwe, in addition to other programs, CHAI is working to prevent the transmission of HIV from mother to child (PMTCT) by ensuring that the healthcare system is able to provide mothers and children with access to the full cascade of prevention services at all stages of transmission risk.

CHAI’s PMTCT Program has received a grant from WHO-CIDA to implement an operations research project- Evidence for Elimination– that aims to evaluate alternate interventions that may help increase retention on anti-retroviral treatment amongst HIV-positive pregnant women under the national PMTCT programme. Now in its final year, the program is seeking a dynamic, highly motivated individual for the position of Analyst.

Responsibilities: This position will be based in Harare, with significant field travel required. The Analyst will report to the Program Manager and will work in collaboration with the Study Coordinator to: Research Implementation and Compliance, Monitoring and Evaluation:

  • Support the Program Manager to ensure compliance with research protocols;
  • Maintain and update both the paper-based and electronic version of the trail Master File;
  • Routinely update the Study Dashboard used to monitor study process indicators;
  • Support Program Manager with preparation, and management of ethics approvals;
  • Support Program Manager in maintenance and updating of trial registration on trial registry website;
  • Support Program Manager to maintain and update Study Enrolment Tracker reports before onward submission to donor;
  • Assist the Program Manager to produce regular reports for CHAI, MOHCC, WHO, and MRCZ counterparts.

Program Support:

  • Carry out data management work involving, but not limited to, Data Abstraction in the field, Storage of CRFs, Data Entry into the electronic study database, Electronic Data Storage and Processing, while adhering to established Standard Operating Procedures;
  • Work closely with the Study Coordinator to resolve data discrepancies between abstracted Case Report Forms and the electronic database, as raised in the monthly Quality Assurance/Quality Control report;
  • Support Research Assistants with facilitation of training and mentorship activities at health facilities;
  • Support Program Manager in planning and conducting of qualitative component of the study;
  • Support Program Manager to write and test statistical programming code in STATA software to test and validate the study Analyses Plan;
  • Work closely with the Program Manager to conduct data analyses on a periodic basis;
  • Support Program Manager to draft scientific manuscripts for study processes and outputs of a standard suitable for publication in peer-reviewed journals;
  • Collect data for, and conduct, data quality assessment and validation exercises;
  • Support collection of data for costing evaluation component of the study;

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in supporting the implementation of a public health program
  • A Bachelor’s degree required
  • In-depth understanding of the Zimbabwean health system and HIV program;
  • Strong problem solving skills and experience working under demanding work plans and tight budgets;
  • Strong interpersonal relationship skills Strong analytical skills and technical proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Good business-oriented verbal, visual and written communication skills;
  • Ability to solve challenging problems without extensive structural or operational support And adapt to fast-paced and changing environments;

Fluency in English and Ndebele or Shona, both written and verbal required

Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree in Public Health or Business, or similar field preferre
