Reporting to the Head of Programs & Policy

Purpose of the Position
To provide leadership in the development and implementation of the ActionAid Zimbabwe (AAIZ) Strategic Objective on Sustainable Agriculture, with particular focus on Climate Resilient Sustainable Agriculture, Sustainable livelihoods and Food Security, Access to Land and Natural resources and Disaster Risk Reduction. Within this Strategic objective and key focus areas, the Program & Policy Manager will be responsible for Partnership development and management; Capacity building of AAI Zimbabwe staff, partners and Small-holder farmers (mainly women farmers); Networking, coalition and alliance building; Campaign, advocacy and research work.
Key accountabilities
– Contributes to the development, implementation and monitoring of the Country Strategy Plan (CSP), linking program and policy work at different levels
– Coordinates, manages and develops Program and Policy interventions under the CSP 2013-2017 Strategic Objective (SO) on Sustainable Agriculture and related key focus areas i.e. Climate Resilient Sustainable Agriculture, Sustainable livelihoods and Food Security, Access to Land and Natural resources and Disaster Risk Reduction
– Develops and manages Partnerships and Capacity Building of partners and AAI Staff
– Planning, Monitoring, Reviews and Evaluation
– People for Change Personnel (P4C) recruitment, management and monitoring
– Co-facilitates in the recruitment, placement and monitoring of AAI Staff, including Program Officers, Advisors, Inspirators, Volunteers and Interns, linked to the relevant to the Strategic Objective and key change promise(s) and in Consultation with Program and Policy team members, Human Resources and Organisational Effectiveness Team, relevant partners and AAI Denmark
– Human Resource Line Management Responsibilities & other support
Knowledge, skills and competencies
– A Bachelor’s Degree gained from a recognized University in either Agriculture, Disaster Management or Natural Resource Management/Ecology or other relevant disciplines
– A relevant specialized Post-graduate qualification (i.e. in agriculture, sustainable livelihoods, natural resource management)
– 5 years’ experience in the relevant program management field, including support to sustainable livelihoods, climate change and adaptation, natural resource management, disaster preparedness and response and land reform
– Experience working with smallholder farmers (especially women farmers) and facilitating their capacity development
