Duties and Responsibilities
Under the guidance and direction of the Legal Counsel, providing legal advice and support in project management processes (particularly in francophone countries) this includes taking a leading role in grant monitoring and tracking processes to enhance compliance.
Assist in drafting, examining and interpretation of legal issues and documentation regarding negotiation, signing and monitoring of Financing Instruments signed or to be signed with stakeholders.
Assist in drafting and review of legal opinions, reports, contracts in procurement processes and agreements which includes analysis of legal issues taking into account the context and past practice.
Undertake extensive review of legal documents, instruments, or other material; identifies important issues, similarities, and inconsistencies for Legal Counsel’s attention ensuring balanced reflection of different views.
Interpret and translate into French, all legal documents relating to the Operations of the Foundation.
Selection Criteria
Selection will be on a competitive basis and the following minimum qualifications, experience and competencies are required: Education
Advanced University degree (Masters) in Law from a recognized university. Candidates must be a registered legal practitioner admitted to the bar in a civil law jurisdiction.
Work experience
At least three years of progressive responsible practical experience in international law, in an international organization.
Language
Fluency in English and French (verbal and written) language skills.

Functional Skills and Knowledge
In-depth knowledge and practice of and/or exposure to, both the common law and civil law systems.
Experience in applying legal expertise to complex, practical issues requiring analytical skills as well as rigorous intellectual integrity;
Excellent drafting skills in respect of legal and administrative instruments coupled with proven ability to negotiate, pay attention to detail and build consensus with diverse stakeholders.
Possession of a teamwork orientation and ability to interact harmoniously and effectively in a multicultural environment.
