Traffic Safety Officer

Our client is a leading independent, international engineering consultancy service provider with roots established in the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and South Africa. They are currently in search of a suitably qualified and experienced Traffic Safety Officer to commence duties in the Johannesburg Office as soon as possible.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring, overseeing and ensuring the safety of the road users during the construction of Section. 8A and Section 15I of BRT, i.e. the M1 Flyover Bridge and Grayston Bridge respectively.
  • Ensuring that the Contractor’s proposed traffic management plans comply with the South African Road Traffic Signs Manual.
  • Ensuring the respective contractors’ Traffic Safety Officers maintain safe traffic accommodation in accordance with the approved plans.
  • Liaising with the Johannesburg Metro Police Department from time to time to improve traffic accommodation.
  • Liaising with the Engineer if there are major closures proposed by the Contractor.
  • Recording keeping of all traffic related incidents, non-compliance by the contractor to specifications.

Minimum qualifications, skills and experience:

  • NOSA SAMTRAC Certificate and other related supplementary safety modules.
  • Understands the requirements of the South African Road Traffic Signs Manual Volume 2,
  • Chapter 13.
  • Min 5 years as a Traffic Safety Officer, with added advantage if the candidate has urban area traffic accommodation experience.
