Farm managers tend to work in either animal production, dairy or crop production although some do work with all three. Livestock on farms tends to be pigs, cows or sheep, while crops can cover cereals, oilseed rape, vegetables and salad.
The job is varied and includes planning strategies for maximum yield, organising farm administration, working machinery, organising associated businesses and managing staff.
Farm managers need to have technical and practical competence, as well as the ability to make sound business decisions. Farms are typically run by management companies or single-owner farmers.
An exciting opportunity with an established and well respected player in the agricultural sector to be involved in the start up and management of a greenfield dairy operation. Previous dairy experience would be a plus however the future incumbent must be hands on, self starter who takes initiative and is willing to get involved with all aspects of this new project. No accommodation is provided at this stage so applicants but either be local or prepared to commute to Marondera.

- Drive the set up of greenfield dairy operation
- Responsible for all aspects of the business – operational and financial
- Oversees maintenance of all farm machinery including pivots and boreholes etc
- Effectively manage all farm staff
- Report to management as required
