JOB DESCRIPTION
Behaviour Change Field Assistant (Bubi & Tsholotsho)
The BC Field Assistant will work closely with the BC District Field facilitator to effectively implement the programme, financial and administrative aspects related to the implementation and monitoring of the five year National Behavioral Change Strategy in the district.
Major accountabilities/responsibilities
- Provide necessary assistance to the Programme Officer in the dissemination of the national BC strategy in the district through a dissemination meeting involving all relevant stakeholders and leaders.
- Advocate with traditional, religious, administrative and other leaders in the district on issues of behavioral change promotion.
- Provide technical and administrative support to the setting up of district behavioral change forum.
- Co-facilitate, in close collaboration with the District BC Officer the development of a district behavioral change action plan in wards.
- Participate in monthly advocacy and support visits to all wards in the districts.
- Oversee and support the Behavior Change Facilitator’s behavioral change promotion activities.
- Coordinate the District Office’s meetings and workshops.
- Make payments for specific programme costs under the guidance of the Provincial Finance Officer.
- Assist the district BC Programme to maintain financial and programme records as per NAC-GP financial, accounting and programme rules, regulations and policies and ensure compliance.
- Assist in the compilation of district quarterly narrative and financial progress report.
Knowledge and skills
Diploma in area related to Programme Management, Social Sciences, Public Health or equivalent. Degree an asset.
Other requirements
- Diploma in HIV and AIDS programming, Public Health or Health promotion;
- Sound knowledge and understanding of latest developments in the area of HIV prevention programming.
- Experience in multi-sect oral development approaches;
- Experience and ability to interact with district leadership;
- Hands on experience working with district and ward structure and added advantage;
- Knowledge of basic accounting and administration.
- Networking and collaboration skills, with key service providers and stakeholders at district level.
- Ability to speak, read and write local language is a must.
