Job Description:
To ensure the stability, security and availability of The Client’s IT infrastructure environments by managing and controlling outsourced partners and internal support teams.
Responsibilities:
- Analyse the services portfolio in terms of what’s working and what’s not and re-define criteria, priorities, strategy, processes and metrics accordingly
- Identify opportunities to reduce costs by identifying low-cost locations and their viability
- Ensure SLA’s are updated to meet and measure expectations
- Monitor and control all infrastructure events against SLA’s and client expectations
- Take remedial action as and when required
- Maintain a robust service management framework that supports the business’s strategic objectives
- Continually look for ways to optimise efficiencies, ensuring different components integrate in ways that minimise wastage and ensure optimal up-time and usability
- Control and manage all services, components and configurations
- Keep asset registers and configuration libraries up-to-date
- Ensure batch schedules are run and managed successfully
- Ensure effective monitoring and back-up management
- Motivate for budgets
- Ensure the infrastructure environment is safe and secure
- Ensure risks are identified, mitigated and tracked
- Report on risk and security to relevant committees
- Provide business-specific monthly reports to Heads of Business Technology on environment management focused particularly on issues of availability and capacity against SLA metrics
- Provide monthly management reports to the CIO’s and Business Technology Heads
- Take responsibility for the financial management of all OPEX costs relating to the infrastructure budget
- Manage project costs for all infrastructure projects
- Manage variance to project budgets
- Take full responsibility for performance management of all direct reports, managing their performance in relation to quality standards and agreed benchmarks and objectives, focusing on all aspects of sound people management:

- Ensure appropriate levels of management and accountability
- Motivate, delegate and empower appropriately, enabling direct reports to take responsibility and display appropriate creativity and initiative
- Clarify performance expectations of staff and work closely with them to grow their skills where needed
Requirements: Qualification and Skill
- Relevant IT and/or business qualification
- 8+ years’ infrastructure management experience with at least 3 years in a management role
- Enterprise infrastructure peripherals knowledge
- LAN and WAN knowledge
- IT configuration and security knowledge
- Operating system management knowledge
- Database system management knowledge
- Sound knowledge of telephony systems and VOIP
- ITIL Foundation
