POSITION: ELECTRICIAN: FSN-5, FP-9
OPENING DATE: JULY 14, 2017
CLOSING DATE: AUGUST 4, 2017 (17:00 hours local time)
WORK HOURS: Full-time, 40 hours/week
SALARY: Ordinarily Resident (OR): $ 17,650 p.a. FSN-5
Not-Ordinarily Resident (NOR): $ 33,700* p.a. FP-9*
*Final grade/step for NORs will be determined by Washington.

The U.S. Mission in Harare is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Electrician.
BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION
The Electrician operates and repairs electrical equipment and systems in US Government owned and leased buildings in Harare, Zimbabwe. The position is supervised directly by the maintenance supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Applicants must address each required qualification listed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item. Failure to do so may result in a determination that the applicant is not qualified.
- EDUCATION: Completion of Secondary Schooling. Must have completed a course of education which leads to Class 1 qualification as a journeyman electrician, which is 1 year of Trade School and 3 years of on the job training.
- EXPERIENCE: Minimum two years of work experience as a qualified Journeyman electrician is required
- LANGUAGE: Level III (Good working knowledge) of written and spoken English is required.
- SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must possess a valid Class 4 driver license. Must be able to identify, propose and implement solutions to all problems pertaining to electrical circuitry and power supplies.

- Management may consider the following when determining successful candidacy: nepotism, conflicts of interest, budget, and residency status.
- Current OR employees serving a probationary period are not eligible to apply. Current OR employees with an Overall Summary Rating of Needs Improvement or Unsatisfactory on their most recent Employee Performance Report (EPR) are not eligible to apply.
- Current NOR employees hired on a Family Member Appointment (FMA) or a Personal Service Agreement (PSA) are not eligible to apply within the first 90 calendar days of their employment, unless they have a When Actually Employed (WAE) work schedule.
